So, i like to read the ban appeals every once and a while. It's pretty much all people who use x-ray. I think a temp ban at first is too light. I propose that an open area cage be made at spawn, like 2x2. Then mute them, and allow people to heckle the individual via mail , or even add a local chat. I think this would just add further salt to the wound. That and it would be pretty funny, and decrease the chance that'll happen again. Yes, i know what you'r thinking, "that's bullying and cruel." Well, it's also funny, and will teach a great lesson. I remember doing something similar on my old server. Except it was just an infinite death loop. However, after like a week of this, then ban them for 7 days. Add a day for each day that they didn't log onto the server. Boom! It's hilarious, plus it'll teach people not to x-ray.

I asked if we could add a snowball chest to throw at players in jail a while back. They said no, so I do not think this will work.

This isn't helpful in the slightest... We don't want players to hate us, we want to give them a chance to realize what they did was wrong, and maybe come back and try again.

I’m sorry, but is this necessary? You would not like it if this happened to you. Everyone else has different mindsets and “humiliating” them will not remedy the situation but in turn make it worse.
As an operator on another server which closed in July, I have dealt with several hacking incidents, and a move like this is completely unacceptable. It is just viewed as a jerk move. An instant ban would be fine. If players started to act up in the chat, they would have gotten punished as well. In this case, muting them. But, this is besides the point.
It will not teach them a lesson but instead put them at shame and embarrassment, and these are two different emotions from understanding something. Feeling embarrassed does not stop someone from doing the same action again (especially me) and even if you think it will work, it doesn’t. It’s unnecessary. It’s not right. Seriously. I don’t find the point.
Embarrassing someone just clearly shows that you have a lack of self-esteem and is just blatant bullying. I’m figuring that the majority of the players on the server are at the age or older than me (17), and at this stage, people have grown out of this mentality, merely because it is not needed. Everything isn’t about power, even if you didn’t say it, but you implicitly mentioned it by adding a “open area cage” at the spawn and “heckle the individual” by all means, therefore adding “further salt to the wound.” It isn’t “funny.” It’s a childish example and once again, it will not make anything change, therefore only making you look like the common moron like most servers have.
In short, please do not criticize other people for their behavior, and doing something like this will not affect their actions. Thank you, and have a nice day.

A lot of players who get banned on this server come back and play actively, and usually change for the better. And some don't. That's why it's only a week ban, and that's why we give people second chances. A week ban is usually enough to make people realize what they did was wrong without ruining the game for them. I remember I got banned shortly after joining, and it was painful knowing I would have to give up time that could be spent playing with my friend. A week's wait wasn't something that I wanted to do, but it was definitely better than being subjected to inhumane punishments. Constantly killing someone, trapping people for others to mock at, throwing snowballs at them, and all that is bullying. Not only would it deter player away from the server, but it could also have other impacts on their life. Not everyone handles that kind of thing in the same way, and it could cause someone depression or make their depression worse.
If you can't even follow the rules, then you have no right scolding other players for breaking them. [4] Be Respectful to Everyone is as much of a rule as [5] No Cheating or Hacking.

I would like to add something to this: I remember when I used to X-ray, and I can tell you that if I got embarrassed instead of banned, that would have been hilarious! I think many people who X-ray would take the joke well, as it is just a game, after all

I think many people who X-ray would take the joke well, as it is just a game, after all While lots of people could find it amusing, it's those few who wouldn't that we want to avoid hurting. Hurting people is bad. Even when they hurt us, we can't lower ourselves to their standards.

Too inhumane if you ask me. Naming and shaming a player isn't the way to rehab players that use xray. I can only see the use of these methods you mentioned if you absolutly didn't want the xrayer to return after their sentence was up. If they do learn quick that simplex is not the server you xray on then perhaps they can take that 2nd chance and not do it again. Would you want to take that 2nd change after you've been put into an open cage, muted, and caught in a infinite death loop? HELL NO.

This is cruel and unnecessary; also, nobody's going to ever come back to the server afterward.

I mean it's literally just a game, but i guess that goes over your head lol It didn't go over my head, were trying to gain players on the server not drive them away and get a bad reputation. And not just that, but games do affect real people. "Just a Game", isn't true for a lot of people these days. And telling people to go to hell isn't very nice, and just backs up our original statements. That you are just virtually trying to bully people.

It's just a game guys, and honestly it's more of a joke that anything. I'm not going the "It's a social experiment guys." Just to get out of any form of feedback. It's just open for discussion, just don't take the Gurrero route. "Well you've got...uh self-esteem issues, uh yeah! Bully!" Like dude, for real you don't know me, and don't presume to. This post was just to get some feedback on the thought. Yeah, i get that it won't be implemented, However, i did this, and it was effective enough. It didn't continue outside of the punishment, because that's bullying. The heckling came with the initial punishment, and didn't outside otherwise in broke rules. So, don't go to "you're a bully route." Also, Zanril, i only ever did it to offenders who didn't follow procedures for appeal. For example, "I didn't x-ray because i was outside, and my sister logged on. That's about the only time i'd jail somebody in that loop."
