I'm wondering, once the server is updated, if anyone is thinking of starting a settlement in the new world. If someone finds a place by the water, I would love to join. I prefer to build amongst others.

Sorry, I am making assumptions.
1. I assume that once we are running the world with 1.13 update, the areas that are already discovered will not be updated. But other areas, that are new, will be generated using the update and have the new features. That's what would happen on my old server. Is that accurate?
2. If that is in fact true, then assumed that when I said "new world" people would know that I was referring to undiscovered areas, in the explorer sense. Not a new server or anything.
Help me out.

On a side note, my game is running horribly since the update.
Computer is updated, as far as I can tell.
Anyone else having issues?

Im liking the sound of a portal to another world. Maybe we could incorporate some of the points that were brought up around a month or two ago in the discussion about a new world were its hardcore only. There were lots of good suggestions to create a more dangerous / hardcore mode where the end for instance was reset but if u were to fall and die there was a 10minute buffer before u can enter that world again. Not sure but i think i remember another point of no set homes in this world.
Just a thought, would be nice to spice up the game a little.

It was a whole new world where there are no set homes. Same staff as the current server and if you die you get temp banned for 2 days. This was just an idea though . it is not 100% gonna happen.
