Some of you may not see the shopping district as a town on simplex but you have to agree it does have town like features like plots and mayor(s).
How has the shopping district sustained itself for so long?
-The Districts are under a single claim with subclaims for plots.
Having players make their own claims for their shops would be foolish. Either simplex staff would have to be okay with my managers and I coming to them all the time
to remove an inactive players claim so we can demo their shop OR They wouldn't be okay with this and old shops would remain forever.
-Its accessible
Anyone can get to the district with a single command. Even if we didn't have a warp getting there the route through the old nether portal east of spawn could be done again.
-Its run by active players
When you warp into the district there is a list of all the owners and managers of the district left of the warp pad to the moon district. If you don't recognize anyone on
that list you must not have been playing on the server long enough. Maybe I'm wrong and there is someone inactive on that list. I would be well aware of it and would be
looking for a player to take the inactive district staff members spot.
-District staff can be contacted out of game
The district has a discord where all demolition reports, manuals, auction results, and general chat between plot owners, managers and simplex staff are held. Delivery of
information is speedy.
-The town can run without the main owner around
Even if I'm not around kitty is there to watch over everything while I'm away, and if I'm away for too long take my position as owner of the district.
-It keeps its residents active
The shop sign system ensures all its plot owners are at the very least checking in.
-Its inactive residents are booted.
I am willing to destroy the oldest and/or most beautiful builds in the districts so that players in the future may use that spot for their own shop. Its constant cyle of life
and death in the district. Someone joins the district, builds a shop, they leave the district OR we destroy their shop and the plot is reset to what it was before.
-Its slowly evolving
I love the ideas I've heard and the problems I've noticed and fixed which made something in the district better. Since I became shopping district owner a 3rd ring in
the sun district was created, an auction system was made to make room in the hall of lost shops, new roles were made to distribute my workload, banners were designed to
mark plot with symbols, the insurance box system was implemented. I have yet to begin renovating the sun district hub to implement the centralized shop sign system.
It is slow but it is slowly changing at times.
