I agree with a number of the sentiments expressed here. Mau and Rach summed up my reasoning fairly well.
The economy is and always will be unbalanced. Players have different playtimes and some are more successful at using those playtimes to collect diamonds or other valuables. True equality is very temporary. Once the first player gets diamonds, the server is no longer
. Most of the diamond hoarders are diamond hoarders for a reason. They're self sufficient and enjoy being so. They will continue to hoard their diamonds like before and will only help to distribute a bit of that hoarded wealth if they do decide to part with some diamonds post-reset on new blocks or resources
If you're goal is to have the most, or the best or be the first, why on earth are you playing on a non-competitive, non-pvp server? Yes, you could flex about having the most diamonds, or the first dragon egg, or the best whatever, but in the process you are ruining the server for a number of players, many of which will quit and never return. This is frankly selfish.
If your desire is for a new adventure, this can be achieved very simply with a flint and steel and some judicious use of the "Q" Key. Burn your items - all of them - and you have achieved for yourself a hard reset, without forcing your belief on others.
It's my belief that a vote for a full reset will forever damage this server. Please vote soft reset , it's really the only way I can see this community surviving as it exists today.
I've said this before and I'll say it again
I'd rather come back after the reset feeling like I'm coming to a new map, rather than a whole new server

I totally agree with you by agreeing with Mau and Rach..
We all agree to disagree...
As you stated on your statement, I am a hoarder but for one reason: Self Sufficient. I enjoy working hard and being independent. I ain’t got time for flexing and all that jazz. I don’t pvp, never liked it.
I mentioned it before. I rather start with a clean slate, meaning a new map/seed rather than a new world. Virgin map, fresh land, and a vast of choices to start with. Even with hard reset, with the donations/played time bonus claim blocks, people who has those can still claim a huge chunk of land regardless. What’s the sense of hard reset. As Meehan stated, few times or w/e will be carried/transferred over REGARDLESS whether hard/soft reset, with limitation that is on hard. Remember whatever you choose it will ended up the same.
I have said it and I will say it again. I rather take my time and wait until reset happens and start anew as if it was never touched. Just like i joined the server 3 years ago. Rinse and Repeat.
My vote will be and still SOFT RESET.

I think we can acknowledge there's a difference between playing single-player and playing on a server. There is obviously an aspect of competitiveness, as well as an aspect of cooperation. To deny there is competitiveness is also to deny there is any cooperation. So to the people who don't believe those things exist, why are you playing on an SMP server? Surely it'd be the same thing to play by yourself on a single player world. This is why choosing a soft reset whilst carrying over no items, is a fundamentally different choice from choosing a hard/full reset.
So I don't agree with calling people who want a full/hard reset selfish. I also don't agree with guilting them into voting the other way, because at the end of the day, I'm doing this to figure out what the majority of players want, not what the majority thinks the majority want. You're not voting on what you believe is the best option for everyone else, you're voting for what YOU want.
I'm going to reiterate though that the economy will likely be exactly the same as it is now in the event of a soft reset (It should take at most 2 weeks to be back at what it was), and that's because I'm taking steps to bring the economy over to the new map in the event of a soft reset. For this reason, I don't believe it's a good reason to vote for full reset if you think it's unfair, as there will be the same degree of unfairness as if there was no reset at all.

okay so hear me out here... if we go soft reset then the people who want full reset can just chuck their stuff in lava before everything happens! everyone’s happy, problem solved. if people are worried about an unfair advantage then they shouldn’t be voting for full reset because that’s just saying “just because i want to start over means everyone else has to too.” if you wanna start over, start over. if you want to keep as many items possible, do that. #softresetftw okay thanks love you bye -rach PREACH!!! I'm voting full reset because I want to see the server built back up again. I feel like this could bring back old players, bring in new players, and just generally help the server. If we bring every block of concrete in quartz in the chest spam covering the floor of our bases then the servers going to be built back up in a week or two tops. I'm a player who likes building and even i'm bored of being able to fly hundreds of blocks in seconds and grab whatever material i need with insta mine.

Aww I really wanted to keep my city but I guess that's fine; I'm voting for a soft reset as the people who DO want a full reset can just reset themselves (like rachel said), not with the whole entire server. Feel like losing all of my progress in my gear and stuff is gonna be really sad.

I prefer soft reset by a slight margin (like 60/40), but too many people are complaining about hard reset so I am voting for that instead.

I’m one of those players a lot of people seem to be complaining about, I’m the type of player that has been on the server for a long time but I take breaks frequently. I don’t think this means my opinion is worth less then those of you that play consistently. I’ve done a lot in the current world I’ve burnt out a lot and I probably will burn out with the reset it’s just the type of player I am. There’s all different types of players, and all of there opinions matter because even though some of us are not as active it doesn’t mean we’re not apart of this community or our opinions are less valuable then yours. The reason I always come back to the server is because of the community. I’m for full reset because I want to see the community start from the beginning together, I want to be apart of this community in the most pure form and I think for me personally that would be with everyone going through the early game, and working together making stronger bonds and new friends. For the People who feel like the community won’t survive this debate, if you really think that then this community isn’t strong which I disagree with. No matter what the outcome is I’m just glad to be apart of this community and I can’t wait to experience what ever is ahead of us all. Just please stop making people feel like there selfish and wrong for disagreeing with you.

Im pretty sad that a reset has to occur but I understand that if we don't the server can't survive on its physical location. But With that being said i see no point in doing a hard reset even to reduce memory usage because as soon as the the world resets players will start crafting chest and filling them up and if any player has to 32 dubs and one chest full they will have at that point created the same mount of data for the server as a soft reset and that can be done in a matter of days. so why not let people keep their built up progress in terms of tools and collectables in order to start spending time on builds and progects as oppose to forcing them to grind for two weeks before doing whatever it is they want.
