Not sure if you guys are familiar with the command/plugin Recipe but I would like to suggest it as an addition to the server as it is super lightweight and does not affect gameplay at all.
The basic gist of it is that you can type in something like "/recipe piston" and it will give you the ingredients and layout for a piston. I don't know about you guys, but if I leave MC Wiki open on my machine I get a lot of bandwidth sucked up by their constant advertising. Not to mention the occasional audio ad that scares the crap out of me. Anyway it keeps you in the gameworld, and minimizes a lot of common questions that typically engender snarky answers.

Not sure if that GUInterface they show is optional -- it was text-only last time I was on a server running it.
