(Stolen Identity) Okay so heres some background< My friend Rollo has been using my brothers account (gatorboy555) and has been playing on the server with me and some friends for a week or so now. My brother being the little angel that he is decided to get on and use X-ray while Rollo was away, then Rollo came back to discover herself banned and didn't know why. So to avoid my brother sabotaging her again she decided to make her own account, (Mega00f) and as soon as she logged on, she was banned. Can both accounts be unbanned so that the gatorboy555 account can un-claim Rollos stuff, and then she can actually play on the server with her own account and have her house back too. Thank you for your time, -Bodozo

we don't ban players, we ban accounts. there is no way for us to tell who is playing at what time, it could be your brother, your friend, your dog.. i dunno, but you are ultimately responsible for what happens on your account.
also i deleted a post here that was unnecessary and misinformed. please read kens post before posting in other people's ban appeals. a grief prevention plugin auto bans people who may be trying to evade a ban using an alt or different account.

If the account Mega00f was your friend's account, why would it have the same IP as your brother (gatorboy555) ?

@kitty) Thats what we were also wondering. The IP that got banned was Rollos even tho it was my brother who got her banned from a different location. We were thinking that this happened because the server may have saved the IP used for that account the first time it logged onto the server. Its not worth losing a member of the server just over a silly misunderstanding. I'm sure this story is hard to believe because stuff like this doesn't happen too often, but I guess all I can ask for is that you can see that I'm being sincere. Me and the 7 other people who I have brought to your server genuinely enjoy playing on Simplex, we all were so relieved to have finally found a good survival server to all play on together. We don't want to all have to leave the server and find a new one since our friend Rollo cant play on it anymore. You don't even have to unban Gatorboy555, all we need is for the land claimed by that account to be unclaimed and for Mega00f to be unbanned so we can continue to all play together on simplex. Sorry if this sounds like a sob story but I really didn't know how else to put it. Thank you for your time, and I hope we can figure this out. -Bodozo

This is why IP bans are often a mess, if you ban accounts not players then it shouldn't be hard to lift the IP ban and just ban the account the offense happened on regardless of the circumstances, not sure why there is so much hullabaloo about this.

If we dont ban the ip, a player can easily get a new account and avoid the ban. But this case had been taken care of between player(s) and staff outside of the forum.

Not asking this is continue the thread but didn't you guys already state you don't ban players you ban accounts so why would it matter if the player avoided the ban on a new account? Shouldn't that be okay?

It's not really that we don't ban players, it's that there is no way to ban players, meaning there is no way to ban the individual that is supposed to be banned. We can only ban accounts and IPs, and manually applied IP bans are very rare. 99% of the time IP bans are applied automatically due to a banned user trying to ban evade. People can play the sibling excuse for anything, and we have no way of knowing if it's the truth or a bunch of bullcrap. Hence if your account gets banned, that's on you, regardless of who may have accessed your account.
Ban evading (on a new account or through any other method) is not okay. There is no point in banning someone if you're okay with them evading their ban.
Edit: For what it's worth, an automatically applied IP ban like what happened here wouldn't even affect a sibling that has playing from the same ip on a different account. What happened here is a really rare case, and only happened because of account sharing shenanigans.

I see, I never liked the way IP bans worked, I got perma banned for hacking off of a server I was Jr staff on, they IP banned someone from my college in my very dorm for blatant regen hacks and since we pinged off the same ISP and router the ban evade system hit my pc too and it was one hell of a headache trying to explain what happened so yeah I guess these sort of messes happen, glad its been worked out.
