I have previous server staff experience with the standard /kick, /ban, /mute, and /jail commands as well as with world edit and some other commands. However, I do not feel entitled to any permissions; I just want to be able to help out on a server that I love. I understand the role of a helper; if I am only needed to moderate chat, then I will do it to the very best of my ability. I always enjoy aiding players and answering questions; new players are my favorite since I always feel like a noob.
Additionally, I’ve recognized that I’m frequently on Simplex when other staff members aren’t on, so I hope that I can help fill in the gaps. If you would have me, I would be honored to join the ranks of your excellent staff.
Extended Background:
I’ve been playing on Simplex for about a year and a half now. Back when I joined Simplex, I had just recently lost my first home server where I had been a helper and then an admin for about two years. It was a semi-vanilla MCPE server with about 20-50 people online at any given time, depending on the season and time of day.
On MCPE we had issues with server hosting that caused crippling server instability whereby our world would slowly become corrupted. Each time it finally died we would start over with a new world, building a new spawn, server shop, pvp arenas, and other significantly large structures from scratch (mostly by hand, since we had no world edit until later on). We joked that we were a phoenix server, rising again from the ashes each time the world burned down around us.
In the beginning I merely helped with this rebuilding process. But by the time I left, I was frequently designing and constructing large pieces of server infrastructure on my own. I could turn out a 500x500x200 server spawn in three weeks with the help of one or two other people and still have time to design and build a shop and pvp arena. This eventually reached a point where our owner trusted me to such an extent that I was one of two people (in a staff of 16) trusted with world edit and administrative land protection permissions. *I obviously do not expect nor desire this level of trust from Simplex.*
Sadly though, being a phoenix server wears down the morale of the staff as a whole. When the server died for the last time, our owner simultaneously had a change in his life situation. He closed the server indefinitely and we all lost our home.
It took me a while to find a server that met my standards when I switched over to java; however Simplex completely surpassed my expectations. The community and staff were excellent, and the plugins were perfectly balanced to ensure a great semi-vanilla experience. I am a builder at heart, so I was absolutely overjoyed to see the anti-grief plugins here (they weren’t a possibility on MCPE). I am so glad I found this place, it truly is a haven.
