I have two towns near my base that were regened shortly after the update to 1.14. The towns now have a lot of open houses that are just not filled, and I've been trying to have the villagers breed to repopulate. Unfortunately, I've had no such luck. Here are the things I've tried:
-Giving them lots of bed with tons of room above -Throwing them a bunch of wheat (probably about 2 stacks/villager + whatever the farmer has collected and distributed) -Made sure they are all in close contact -Spent a lot of time working in the area, ensuring the chunks were loaded
Am I forgetting something? Has anyone had luck breeding villagers since the update? I feel like I'm doing it correctly. If anyone gives a suggestion that ends up working, I'll go ahead and give out 20 diamonds because at this point I have no idea what the problem is.
Thanks all, -Num

Villagers now need enough beds, If there are no open beds the villagers won't breed. The villagers also need a job site cause they plan ahead for their child's future.

Thanks choo, a couple online players came and actually got them to breed. For some reason, they rejected wheat but bred after getting beetroot and potatoes. Very strange, they should like wheat.

Yep, same issue with other town. Some non-wheat and they were very happy

Also I olny think farmers can make wheat into bread. Villagers can't eat wheat.

They don't need a job site for breeding. Also they need to be able to pathfind to both their bed and another available bed. (Use trapdoors and/or carpet to keep them locked in.)

Aren't we all just the villagers of life though?

I think what I was doing wrong was throwing too much wheat at non-farmers that they had nothing to do with. The farmer was probably distributing bread but way too slow. Veil, I may take your advice in the future when trying to get villagers to other places. Currently, I'm just trying to make these villages look lively. It's weird to have a village with 10 homes and only 4 villagers.
