Welcome my fellow Simplexians, to the Nether Update! #NetherUpdate!
At the time of me posting this, Simplex has been up for about 4 Years, 2 Months, and 3 Weeks. I have played for 143.6 DAYS, 11.28 of those having been holding the sneak key. I have spent a LOT of my time in the nether building things and expanding history. To keep this a bit more simple for those that don't like to read lots of texts, I have divided this into 3 main sections; World Generation, Player Builds, and Conclusion. I hope with these points, and a bit of story telling that you will be able to join me in Saving the Nether with a Reset! #NetherReset!
World Generation:
This is the NETHER UPDATE. Not the Overworld Update or the Survival Update. From my PoV a Full NETHER Reset is the right way to go. The only new additions that are being added to the Overworld in the form of structures are Ruined Portals which like the Woodland Mansions, if you want one, built one. Taking a look back at when the server updated to 1.13. The decision was made to expand the world border at that point. Great! But there were still unexplored chunks before 42.5k out. This caused for great parts of just random ocean to be generated as new, and it looked ugly. Having just random spots of new chunks is great and all, but it is annoying. If it were decided to keep the current nether, this would occur. We would have to go out to find these new biomes, expanding the world size of the nether. Whereas if we would reset the nether, it could stay smaller for longer before being explored, reducing world size for the time being. I don't want to have to go the 25k blocks just to find some new stuff that could be easier found if the nether was all flesh as one. #NetherReset!
Player Builds:
As it stands from what I've seen and what I know, there are only 3 different types of builds in the nether; Transportation, Farms, and the Nether Shops.
Transportation is the most common type of build in the nether. Used by players who want to transport mobs or other cargo long distance with ease, or just want a better way to get to their lands. These can be important, but most times they just sit there, only to be used a few times, and then discarded. These lines create a clutter in the nether, paths just going straight over lava, random paths in the walls, random paths on the nether roof. Wiping the slate clean to get rid of all these excess now unused paths would help tremendously with the beauty that is the nether. If you still want your rail? Pick it up before the reset and build a new, better, and more beautiful one when the nether resets. #NetherReset!
Ah nether farms, the only reason people build nice things in the nether besides shops. These farms are large and, like the transport lines, many of them are unused. It is terrible to have to see all these unfinished, unused farms just sitting around the nether biome, just waiting to be used again. Now you might say, "But Choo, my farm I use just fine, I spent a lot of time on it", Well to that, loosing your active nether farm is terrible, but I'm sure that it could be made better. Use this nether reset as a time to perfect your design and make it far superiors to the old farms. Lots of people spend lots of times on things, not everything can be saved, but having the opportunity to create a bigger and brighter farm should not be turned down. Take to this task, go design a new farm, and build it when the server resets the nether. #NetherReset!
The Nether Shops. Both Northeast and Northwest of spawn there are portals that go up to this area. These portals link to the top of the roof and focus among a main center railway. You will be greeted with Diw's and Kitty's shops, and down the rail you will find Snurre's MISC shop, Elena's Bel Co, and Unknown Mall. The rail only went up to Unknown Mall when it was first expanded. I took to the task and spent 50+ Hours expanding the rest of the Nether rail to ION and even added a rail to my Game District. On the side of this new rail, more shops popped up, but many more died. Due to how the Nether Rail Line (NRL) was created many shops now just sit there till the end of time. Outta Stock, Outta Beauty. When the Nether Reset comes it will be great to remake this area, make it more easy accessible to shops farther down the rail, heck I could make the rail go in all directions to who knows where. I spent a long time building the rail. #NetherReset!
One of the main reasons I built it was to connect spawn to my Game District. A place full of free games that you could come play anytime. Once a month I hold huge PvP tournaments with prizes of 500+ Diamonds. 5 out of the last 10 building comps are located in this Game District Area. I plan to have more. Connecting them all up, creating an area where you won't need to walk, or fly, or teleport to the different comps, but an area where you can simply step over a river, and you are in a new comp area. A Nether Reset would completely cut off one of the main ways to get to this area. But I still want a Nether Reset. #NetherReset!
Closing:
As it sits right now, the nether is the SMALLEST world that Simplex has. Resetting it will still change a lot, and it will be a while before we get back to full operation in the nether. But this is the NETHER UPDATE. An update that changes the nether. Not the End, not the Overworld. To those who just want to change nothing. Change will come one day or another, Reset now, Rebuild your farms, rebuild beauty. To those who want a full reset. Think about it this way. A Nether Reset is a world reset. The Nether is livable, to those who want a challenge. By resetting the nether it will create a more flush and more unified land, no weird chunk borders, and more quartz. But at the end of the day 2 of the 3 options lead to a Nether Reset. So the question is, do you want to toss away everything EVERYONE has built over the past 4 Years, 2 Months, and 3 Weeks in the Simplex Overworld? Lets save at least some history, lets save at least some old ideas to make them better and make them new, lets Save the Nether by having it Reset! #NetherReset!
If you have any questions or want me to clarify on any of this feel free to ask me. This will not be the last post I made in support of a #NetherReset on here.
