Dear Players of Simplex,The server has existed for 4 years now. It began on version 1.9 with a 30,000 block radius border. Since then we’ve expanded the world border twice to accommodate for the latest features of updates. However, it has become clear lately, with the most recent update to 1.15, that we will no longer be able to expand the world border. That is because we no longer have the storage space required, and managing a huge world size will only be more difficult due to the amount of space a backup takes. Current world sizes: Overworld: 223GB End: 95GB Nether: 18GB. Simplex however is a server which will not stagnate on one version of Minecraft, we will continue to update to the latest versions even if we cannot accommodate for all the changes. It is because of this reason, that every update from now on, we will poll the community to get the consensus opinion on whether players would prefer to keep updating the server without accommodating for some of the latest changes, or reset the world/worlds to make way for them. This is just the reality. The latest version of Minecraft(1.16) will provide:- minecraft.gamepedia.com/Java_Edition_1.16- New nether biomes - New blocks generated in the nether - New structures in the nether - New mobs in each of the nether biomes - A lot of new blocks and items, not directly related to world generation Without any reset, we will not be able to provide the following, in already generated nether areas:- New nether biomes, including the new blocks generated in the new biomes - New nether structures, including magma cube spawners - New mobs spawning in the new biomes only A list of things the server is also currently missing out on: - 1.11: World was expanded (30k -> 42.5k radius) for Woodland mansions. No woodland mansions are generated inside of the inner 60000x60000 blocks, and the few that have generated past that are already explored and claimed. - 1.13: World was expanded (42.5k -> 50k radius) for the Aquatic update. Very few Aquatic biomes, coral reefs, blocks etc. are generated inside of the inner 85000x85000 blocks. - 1.14: No world expansion. Therefore no new villages, zombie villages, bamboo forests or pillager outposts, except for the few areas we regenerated on request in the early days of 1.14. Regenerating areas manually turned out to be way harder and more time consuming than we expected, and it was not feasible to continue with the regen. Please vote for which option you would prefer the most. Please note, if the poll does not reach a super majority (>50% of votes on one option), we will hold another vote between the two most popular options. This way the people who vote for the 3rd most popular option have a chance to change their vote. If any attempt is made to illegitimately manipulate the poll, we will ban the user from the server, discord and forums. No Reset/s:We will update to the next version without resetting anything. New nether content will only be found in unexplored areas of the nether. Nether Reset:The Nether will reset. Claims in the nether will be deleted. No compensations will be made. Please note however that the nether is only 18 GB, whereas the overworld is 223 GB and still not completely explored. Meaning a HUGE majority of the nether is still completely unexplored, it’s just that people have not been travelling far beyond the centre, and also probably because a portal at overworld world border, will take you only out to 6250 in the nether) Full Reset:All worlds will be reset. Ranks/donations/votes will be kept. Assumed no transfer of builds or items.
(Please note, that there may be more thought put into whichever option is chosen. For example, it is not definite that we will have no transfer of items in the event of a full reset. The reason there are only 3 options at the moment is so we can start with three simple options, then branch out from one option if needed)
Poll closes 2nd July 10:00pm AEST (Convert to your own timezone). Results will be released then. Civil and respectful discussion below is encouraged.

I voted to reset the nether. At this point I am working on a massive ice boat race track and have a lot planned for it. So thats why I dislike going for a full reset.
The nether is not as much as explored because the nether has not much to offer at this point. If the nether updates people will explore more and more of the nether in the search for bastions, netherite and ofcourse the new biomes. So that means the size of the nether will increase. It would be a bummer if the nether remains the same. I would be fine if we got a notice when the nether resets to take our stuff from there especially for the nethershop owners.

I mean, I'm up for a full reset at this point, although I can see why some people don't want that. At the very least we need a nether reset imo.

Obviously we'll give as much warning as possible for players to vacate their items from the nether in the event of a nether reset.

I would love a new full reset if it means that we can keep our inventory... Imo it would be best for the entire server....

People might lose a lot of resources, gear, pets, and builds that have taken years at this point to aquire, but there are also so many abandoned claims in the overworld that the amount of unusable land right around every corner can get to a point where sometimes it's irritating, but if there was a full reset to happen sure, ALL of the amazing builds that have been around for a long time as landmarks would vanish but it would also open up fresh land with new possibilities around every corner Instead of some dusty old abandoned claim that hasn't been touched in a year and a half preventing you from getting to have a nether portal at your home or having access to a nearby village just because a person decided they didn't want to play anymore. None of that would be a problem with a full reset at all, and there would be new bamboo forests, new reefs, new, everything!

I guess if we did have a full reset we could try to rebuild some of the most iconic builds/monuments. Unfortunately, one thing that probably won't work and comes to mind is Lucid's desert city (does that still exist? I haven't played in a while). It's pretty big and beautiful and probably took a long time

I just want to add: In the event of a full reset of all worlds, we will start out with a much smaller world border than we currently have, to have the possibility of expanding the border in future updates.

I would certainly love a full reset but i would like it if we could keep the stuff in our inventory as alot of it has great history many of us. Such as duck would want take all his books from the library. I would love a full reset because many players have missed out on a lot of new explorations and experiences due to there being so little left. Also i think it would be great for newer players to join in on the massive communitu projects such as a new shopping district and the end, where the older players have had much more responsibility and advantage. These are my thoughts on it. i'm very intrigued to soo what other people think.

Yeah I like that but if u want to make an impact and have a key role within the community then u need to help and think about current concepts. Are they outdated? Does it really need an overhaul? Or does it work as it works now. But for me it has to many downsides. I have some stuff that was made before cetrain restrictions so like the entity limits. My trading hall will not be rebuild within a full reset. The whole eco would be reset. Yeah it is fun to be rich but what kind of achievement is that if u are just hoarding it. The map has no new stuff to over it is the nether update not the overworld update. The world is not fully depleted with ores. You can complain about reduced ores but I keep finding ores everywhere when I mine. It has positives but also negatives. I would feel horrible to see my contribution to the collection just dissapear. Trust me I spend over 5 hours into that stuff. With a full reset lurking I lose motivation to finish my projects. I do not want to waste my time building stuff that will be obliterated into an empty void.

Both keeping inventory and a world download, in the event of a full reset, is something we will discuss at a later stage, if that is doable or should be done.
I get that some might not be able to decide without knowing those facts, but we can't possibly add every detailed option possible to the poll for now.

Sure whatever mau you do you, this is just my personal opinion, ik u have worked extremely hard on what you have and thats why i suggest a back up of the server if we fully reset. Also having reduced ores, which ik isnt true know, has got nothing to do with what my opinion is. I just got that by someone and presumed it was true due to the fact i have previously got very unlucky.

I will add though that it's likely we will make every attempt to get a world download out, I'm just not sure what it entails presently.
