Hello! Given the inevitable soft reset, I will be looking to create a new base, as will most people. Though building is no stranger to me, it is often choosing the style of each build that stumps me the most. So, I have elected to let the simplex community help me choose which style I should make my new base in! Please select up to three (3) and, if you still have preference among those, rank them by responding. Thanks! Feedback is always welcome.
(Note: my final build will not be a carbon copy of these images, merely inspired by and in the essence of)
Style 1: Brick Victorian
This one I like a lot with the new blackstone being added. My design would be bigger and with more interior hall space, as well as many exterior attractions. I have never built in this style, but there's no better time to start like the present.
Style 2: Gothic Mansion
Again, the build would be much bigger. This is the build style I am most used to, but I would consider myself rather bored of it and find it somewhat uninspiring.
Style 3: Modern Mansion
Modern mansions are always fun and make sense given minecraft's blockiness. I have built in this style before, though its never been my favorite. I am also not the best at this style, but I am willing to give it a shot again.
Style 4: Villa Style
I have never built in this style before, nor do I know how. But, this reset is a chance to start again! I think this would work very well as a built I can continually add on to, and is a less common build style, from what I can tell. Bonus: Lots of flowers!
Style 5: The Viking Mansion?
The build style of my ancestors! Though I'm not sure Vikings really built mansions like this... I have made a few builds in this style, and holy sh*t it was difficult, but worth it in the end. It's also not the most common style, but renovation would likely be difficult.
Style 6: Greek Revival
A style that is common in my part of the world, though now associated with not the greatest part of American history. Regardless, it is a nice architectural style, one that I've never seen done in minecraft (this was the only image I could find that was actually in this style) and would be completely new to me. Worth a shot?
Style 7: Brutalist
An often overlooked build style, especially because when its done wrong, it can easily be some of the ugliest architecture around. I've never seen anyone build something in this style, at least not in a way that had clear forethought. Alternatively, I could just make a giant cobblestone box and see how many of my neighbors I scare off. And yes, if I build in this style, I will demand that the server mandates a black and white texture pack
Thank you for reading my "little" architectural poll, sorry if I tend to get verbose. Please vote for what style you think is best, perhaps discuss why or leave me a suggestion/recommendation/critique, or post architecture memes (I challenge you to find one I haven't seen yet).
Cheers,
Evan (The Governor)
