Hi all!
It's finally time, the world download of the old Simplex world is now available for download.
Our choice of distribution method: Torrent
- Everyone can help distributing this to all players, if they are kind enough to keep seeding after downloading.
- You aren't required to download all files if you don't want to. You can choose what files to download in your torrent client.
A few things
Unpacking after download
Loading the world in single player
If you want to help distributing the world download and have the internet bandwidth and data cap to spare for it, you can keep seeding the world download after it has finished downloading. Doing so would really help everyone get the download faster.

It's finally time, the world download of the old Simplex world is now available for download.
Our choice of distribution method: Torrent
Why torrent?
- The world files are almost 240GB in size with parts of it compressed. That's a huge file to download all at once.- Everyone can help distributing this to all players, if they are kind enough to keep seeding after downloading.
- You aren't required to download all files if you don't want to. You can choose what files to download in your torrent client.
A few things
- Most region files for the end dimension are removed, only the inner part is included.
- The download is split up into two torrent files because including everything in a single torrent file surpasses the 2MB .torrent file size limit, which some torrent clients have.
- A few folders which contain several thousand files are compressed into .zip files for the same reason as above. These files will need to be uncompressed after the download is finished. This will be explained later in this post.
Downloading the torrent
- Install a torrent client of your choice. I currently use qBittorrent (www.qbittorrent.org), but you can use whichever client you'd like.
- Download the torrent files, and open them in your torrent client:
- simplexmc.com/download/Simplex_1.0.torrent - Contains everything but the region files for the overworld. Size: 19GB.
- simplexmc.com/download/Simplex_1.0_overworld_region.torrent - Contains the region files for the overworld. Size: 219GB.
- Set both torrents to download into the same folder. Doing this will place the overworld region files in the correct subfolder.
Downloading only parts of the world
- If you don't want to download the entire world, you can choose which region files to download by selecting or unselecting them in your torrent client. In qBittorrent, you'll find it under the 'Content' tab for the highlighted torrent.
- The region files for the overworld dimension are located under 'Simplex\region\'.
- The region files for the nether are located under 'Simplex\DIM-1\region\'.
- Use the following website to calculate what coordinates corresponds with what region files: dinnerbone.com/minecraft/tools/coordinates/. I would recommend downloading all regions adjacent to the one you want as well.
- To find the coordinates of yours or other players old homes, search this site: simplexmc.com/simplex_1.0_homes/
The world download contains the following .zip files. Some of them MUST be unpacked while others are optional. All .zip files should be unpacked directly into the folder they are located in.
- Simplex\advancements\advancements.zip - OPTIONAL - Unpack if you want to have all advancements for all players.
- Simplex\data\maps.zip - OPTIONAL - Unpack if you want player-made maps to work.
- Simplex\DIM-1\poi\poi.zip - REQUIRED - Unpack for the nether to work properly.
- Simplex\playerdata\playerdata.zip - OPTIONAL - Unpack if you want all players' playerdata. This includes stuff like inventory, enderchest, parrot on shoulder etc.
- Simplex\poi\poi.zip - REQUIRED - Unpack for the overworld to work properly.
- Simplex\stats\stats.zip - OPTIONAL - Unpack if you want to include all players' statistics.
Loading the world in single player
- Move the main 'Simplex' folder with all of its content into the 'saves' folder of your minecraft installation. To get to this folder, hold the Windows key and press R. Then type "appdata" in the Run window, and click on OK. In there, open the Roaming folder, then the .minecraft folder. You will find the saves folder in there.
- This will stop the seeding of the torrent from you to others who are downloading. If you want to keep seeding, and have disk space for it, copy the folder instead of moving it.
- Launch Minecraft 1.15.2. (It should also work fine with newer Minecraft versions.)
- You should find the "Simplex" world in your single player world list.
If you want to help distributing the world download and have the internet bandwidth and data cap to spare for it, you can keep seeding the world download after it has finished downloading. Doing so would really help everyone get the download faster.
