Today I had some interesting new experience in simplex, it is my first time since such a long time get into the jail.
I used to bring pumpkin pie to those had been jailed, didn't expect I would receive pumpkin pie someday.
The reason is quite simple, I happened to teleport to an unclaimed land, removed a player-build house and kill a pillage inside.
After calming myself down, I accepted my punishment, and start to think about question related to rules and regulations, judicial punishment and private land property.
I would like to share my opinion and looking forward to getting some feedback from other players especially managers.
Firstly, about judicial punishment. As far as I know, there are only three kinds of punishment in the server, mute, jail, and ban, which I think is far from enough. According to the degree of violation, there should be more levels of punishment for different irregularities. Obviously, there is huge difference between killing a player on purpose and reverse shopping by accident. We can have more punishment like fine, forced labor, or proscription
to public facility.
Secondly, about land property and rules, to be exact, rule #1 "no griefing even on unclaimed land". In this server, most private region and almost all public facility are claimed, so should we still need to protect those area was not claimed?
My answer is no. Protecting unclaimed land make the claim function meaningless, if all building and block are protected, why and where should I spend those hard-earn claim blocks? Claiming action is used to define "need to protect" and "no need to protect". No one should be jailed for dug some dirt block on the ground since the dirt just happened to be the ceiling of someone's underground house. What need to be protected should be claimed first. Imagine what people will say to you if you put money in public and found it disappear the next day? "Put it into your wallet next time" I guess. We should not count on moral to regulate behaviors, that is the reason we should have proper rules. There is also a loophole in this rule might benefit the injustice, anyone can set bait in unclaimed area and send somebody into jail for some reason, it is hard to know why people put personal property into unsafe area.
Rules and punishment are necessary even in games to ensure everybody can have their right guarded. That means managers should be more careful when making and executing rules. It would be very important for a public game server in long-term management.
As one of the players, I just want to share my personal idea on what I have seen. If there are some points you disagree, don't feel hesitate to point out.
