Looper jail appeal

Hello SuperLooper5000,

Thank you for writing a jail appeal. You were indeed jailed for 7 days for the following offenses:

1) Grief of mapcratic's unclaimed public highway
2) Theft of several items from unclaimed chests at Shergis' base

I have attached logblock evidence of the theft to this forum post. In terms of the grief, Massani (a Moderator) and I were spectating you while you placed random dirt blocks and water sources along the road.

I will go through some of your arguments.

"I don’t understand why it should be a 7 day jail sentence": Griefing and stealing (even in unclaimed areas) are against the server rules. Usually a combination of both would get you temporarily banned. However, since both cases were quite minor, I decided for a jail sentence instead.

"I don’t believe I really stole worth things": The value of items being stolen is irrelevant in terms of whether a player should be punished or not. Theft is always punished on this server. We do punish in varying degrees, keeping in mind how minor/major the theft was. In your case, you stole several items (gunpowder, dirt, leather armor, etc.) with low economic value. I consider this a minor theft. It should be said that no matter how insignificant you may think the theft is, you are still taking items from a player that do not belong to you.

"I didn’t know that was the public road": On the day of your jail sentence, you asked in chat if unclaimed builds are allowed to be claimed or destroyed. Elena7 and I both responded "no" and "It is punishable if done". This was before you began to grief. Isn't putting random blocks and water sources across a pathway and allowing creepers to blow it up, destroying how the build normally was? You can't say you didn't know any better in this regard, since you asked in chat and staff gave you an answer. You not only disregarded the rules, you also disregarded what staff told you in public chat. Disregarding the rules is ultimately a choice you made; now you are facing the consequences of it.

Ultimately I am not convinced by your appeal. For this reason I will not be changing your jail time or un-jailing you.

I would like to add 2 more things that are of importance to you:
- Keep in mind that theft is also coupled with a shopping district ban. This means you cannot access /warp shop, even if you have the required amount of votes (18). You may appeal separately for that in 6 months time.
- If you are caught stealing or griefing another time, you will be permanently banned from the server.

Wait am I banned from /warp shop? I don’t understand what you really mean with it. If I’m banned from there. Should I appeal for that in six months? I don’t get it.

I never went to /warp shop.

Why does theft change what you can do on warps?

Or is it just a reminder?

Hmm, I know its 2 days left. But if it was so ”minor” why am I being punished for a minor thing?

If it’s small and easy to fix it shouldn’t be that long sentence then. It was the public highway that was unclaimed. So I wanted to do some parkour but then you and Massani was there.

And then the part when you jailed me, It was 2 days. Then I left and join a few minutes after. Then you say that you increased my sentence to 7 days for stealing too. It’s minor. It shouldn’t be that long.

I mean the staff team is good. Looking out for rule breakers to help the community. But I think it was kinda too hard. I don’t believe that you can get punished with a 7 day/Week sentence. Please tell me.
