I'm releasing any files and ideas I may have had for celebrating Simplex's 8th anniversary in hopes someone else can take it over. I've historically been thee person that cared enough to do something to celebrate since I'm a sucker for history, and fun, but no more.
Late in the month of May this year I already pre-planned what I wanted to do with the area and the finer details would have been worked out later.
Around this time would have been when I'd asked to build on the Easter islands early. Like last year, this year's festival will have activities to keep everyone entertained with lessons taken from last year.
A video trailer would shot, and posted to Youtube channel which would include the above logo in it and with it, establish the color scheme I'd use. Cherry Wood, Quartz, Amethyst, and Light Blue Terracotta was planned to be staple building blocks types.
The center piece of the area would have been a broken infinity symbol that would be complete enough to look like the number eight from maps, and a birds eye point of view. I would employ help with building the area unlike last year year which was a solo venture.
As for activities carry overs from 7th anniversary include:
• Boat Race Track - Time Trial
• Timeline
• Assembly
• Elytra Course - single track - Time Trial
• Dungeon
1. Boat Race Track
- Boats during a race are very buggy - buggy enough that I didn't enjoy it as much as I wanted to. I wanted to make one anyway, but with a time trial format. I could also get away with making it

- Boats during a race are very buggy - buggy enough that I didn't enjoy it as much as I wanted to. I wanted to make one anyway, but with a time trial format. I could also get away with making it
a sprint style track instead of a circuit type. A return system for boats would be at the end of the track along with something that would show your final time that you could record onto a public leader board
2.Timeline
- This was going to return in the form of a image that I would publicly share and updated yearly. It would not be at a physical location on Simplex like the 7th anniversary one.
3. Assembly
- The gathering place where an opening speech would introduce everyone to the area, give some history, and then release everyone to have fun
4. • Elytra Course
- Something I learned from the 7th anniversary is the two activities that had learning curves were not ideal to include. The mirrored dual elytra course came out the way I wanted but getting to know

- Something I learned from the 7th anniversary is the two activities that had learning curves were not ideal to include. The mirrored dual elytra course came out the way I wanted but getting to know
the course to best experience it took time, because its layout was confusing to most due to its design. My solution I wanted to make for this year was to make it a single course only, and possibly make it a time trial like the boat race track.
5. Dungeon
This likely was not going to be added this year, nothing was planned for it but I did jot it down as an idea I could have done.
New additions include:
1. Parkour
A simple parkour course, or a few. Possibly bake this in with the next item on this list. I was going to take ideas from the Parkour Build Competition from 2017 if I made it by itself.
2. Get out before you die maze
3. Capture the flag?
HOW?! I'm not sure anymore but it would be really fun.
4. Scavenger Hunt Versus
Already made at the Pixel Arcade as Shulker Hunt. Skip
5. Firework Show
I did it for the 5th anniversary and wanted to do it again, but with different ways of launching them than straight up. Something more ambitions was to make it more of a flight show by flying with a crossbow shooting the fireworks, and flying down low to trigger sculk sensors to launch ground based launchers. It would be intense but I'd love to see how well it would turn out in a replay.
