Hello. I have been a member of Simplex since late June and have frequently had problems with the current system of preventing X-Ray users many times. So frequent in fact, that I think Jasan, Kitty, and Mark are getting tired of me asking them to reset my mining timer. I mine a lot during my time on the server, getting up to 2 to 2 1/2 stacks of diamonds per day. In my opinion, the current system for preventing X-Ray has many flaws, one being that it punished players that don't cheat for mining. I have come up with a few solutions I think should be implemented to stop punishing players for mining.
1.) Disable the anti-Xray plugin for a single player who is Regular+
I think once a player has voted to the Regular rank, he/she has proven their loyalty and interest in the server and would no longer cheat to find ores. However, this solution does have a problem because Regular is not a hard rank to get, and a player could easily begin cheating once they get the rank.
2.) Have voting reset the timer
Maybe instead of disabling the plugin, voting would reset the timer. That way, a moderator or helper would be notified of the player reaching their mining limit, but the server could also gain votes in return for letting a player reset their timer. Waiting to vote is not necessarily fun, so it would deter cheaters by boredom or give them time to be caught or in rare cases, think about what they've done.
3.) Donate to disable personal timer
Similar to #2, but instead of gaining votes, the server would gain money. There is a problem with this though, a moderator wouldn't be notified if a player reached their limit because their timer would be disabled, but maybe there is a way to still communicate the amount of ore mined with staff members. Because this is would be more impacting to gameplay, the donation would be in the range of 5-15 dollars.
4.) Replace the current plug-in all together
Plugin-ins exist where, when a player mines an ore like diamond, it will be broadcasted in chat for everyone to see. That way, anyone on the server can point out suspicious players instead of just moderators. However, I'm not sure if they are updated for current versions of Minecraft.
I created this primarily to find an alternative to asking staff to reset my mining timer so I could continue playing the server. I assumed implementing a better system would make the staff's job easier, but maybe it's just me who mines to the extent of reaching my mining limit. This might not even be a problem for other people. What are your thoughts?
