This might turn out to be a stream-of-consciousness ramble, but I was wondering if there might be some way to fix or improve some of the damage to the landscape and properties surrounding spawn. I've noticed the area descend slightly into a state of disrepair, what with creeper holes and random mining holes, etc. I realise that this is to be expected on a public server, and I've seen a lot worse, believe me. Looking around the old spawn, I see some promise in what might be maintainable. What kind of strategies might help keep the areas around spawn looking pretty? Some ideas: - alert staff to any creeper holes that could be rolled back
- discourage strip mining near spawn
- release abandoned claims back to the wild
- occasional landscaping project
Thoughts, input, rambling gibberish are welcome. That's all I have for now. I hope to post updates in future. Thanks!

At old spawn after the great crash and loss of claims the place was pretty bad looking. After a while, me and mark did a restoration project in the area. New spawn still looks alright, compared to what old spawn area looked like.
If someone asked me to rollback a creeper hole every time one made a hole I'd never be able to play the game. Better to ask for dirt to fill it in as the mods can give them to you without beeing next to the player.
I had said before it would be nice if all new players started out with a little bit of dirt for holes to be filled in but then they might use it for house making and ohfuckthat.
As for that big stip mine of all dirt/sand, I can see who made it and ask them if its alright if its covered or something.
If something looks bad and I'm on, you can give me a shout out and if I'm not stalking people or doing mod like stuff I will come to have a look to see what can be done.
As for old "abandoned" claims, if nothing is built on it, and the player has been gone for a month or longer, then it can be taken off. If there is something on it, we usually dont like taking down someone's hard work(even if its just a box). We've had players go on vacation for a month+ and come back to play.

Sweet. Thanks for the reply, Kitty! Indeed, I've filled the occasional hole myself, where I can. Will keep an eye on things!
