Hey everyone! I've been playing here on Simplex for about 2-3 months now and absolutely love it - to the point that its all I use minecraft for. However, for some reason I recently thought of some small quality of life changes that I figured I would share here, so here goes!
The first thing I thought of was adding a small message board at spawn, maybe where players can advertise their builds or shops. This is a small touch that somewhat helps the server communicate more. As of now, most people that play on here do so in an almost singleplayer manner. People have their cliques and such that they tp to more often, but most of the players are pretty spread out, with almost no incentives to interact other than trade. The second change is possibly making spawn slightly larger. This isn't a big one, as spawn is already fine as is, but the builds there feel kind of small compared to much of the more grandiose builds surrounding it. The PvP arena is flat and has no obstacles, and is too small to effectively use bows in. The actual "spawn" point feels somewhat cramped and closed in, as it has a dark(er) colour palette and only one small opening to get out from. Anyways, those are the only changes I can think of that I have no effect over as I cannot change spawn lol. anywho I don't know where to stop typing so I am gonna just leave it at that

Message board might be a good idea, however how would it work? Spawn is protected by worldguard so that only I or another operator can edit it. How do we keep people from griefing the message board if I make a section of the spawn editable? Lots of questions. If the message board has to be manually changed day in day out by staff members this could become a hassle. I thought for a second that I could sell broadcasts in the shop so people could purchase weekly broadcasts advertising their builds/shops but this seems a bit ehh thinking twice on it. Someone easier might just be setting up perhaps a thread on here which people can advertise their own shops (I think people already do this). People already show off their builds which is great. Maybe another channel on the discord server for shops only?
I'll be interested to hear other people's opinion on the spawn. I've always found a smaller, more functional spawn much more attractive than one with amazing (but mostly empty) buildings which serve little to no purpose other than to look nice. Having a big, amazing looking spawn is great but really when it comes down to it, do people really care? I think the one we have now is actually much more aesthetically pleasing than the old one and not sure if there's any more room for improvement. PvP arena is rather plain yes, but in terms of the theme of the spawn I think it fits right in. People who play here are not primarily playing for the PvP so obstacles could be just a nuisance to them.

I think the discord idea for a message board is great, actually. As for spawn, you're absolutely right with having a smaller and more functional spawn, I was just having a moment of nostalgia in regards to a server I used to admin for that shut down, and I missed the arena I helped build at spawn on there. Also, completely irrelevant to the post itself - I think its great that you're so involved with this server and the regulars here. Its not often you find good servers that you can actually communicate ideas to the owner. Keep up the good work  |

The discord channel would be cool for shops. The spawn in point was designed to have the player more closed in so they have to pass the rules on the way out. It gives us better ground when a player says "well i didn't read the rules" they literally spawn with them in their face. For pvp there is the one at /oldspawn still I think and the one in ION has lots of obstacles.

Would it be possible to add a teleport to the shops? Unless I'm completely wrong they're in the same area but for the life of me I can never find them. Is it also possible to add a /warp random command much like the /warp end command? It's just a bit of a hassle to go back to the spawn point then use the teleporter and repeat if you don't land in the place you want to.

He wont add a /warp to staff made towns either lol. even if a staff member made the shopping district he wouldn't add one there. it would be unfair to other players who may want to make a shopping district of their own. |

Thanks the /rtp took us off the semi vanilla list that is why we do not have it anymore. |
