Banks can be a good thing. They hold onto your money, offering a safe and insured place to hold your money. However, on the server everywhere can be safe due to claims, that isn't why i want to make a bank.
My idea is this: Offer a way for people, noob to seasoned players alike, to gain diamonds with out mining.... seems fishy doesn't it? Well it isn't. Here's why.
Due to logblock, I'd have you place the diamonds in the chest, you leave them there, when you want to claim your interest, you let me know, and i pay up. If by some chance i dont pay up, you tell staff and i get banned, they roll your inventory back, and thats that.
I won't be making Diamonds on this, quite the opposite. I will be paying the interest out of my own personal stash.
I haven't thought of the exact interest rates, but most of them are going to be based on a 2 week cycle.
Leave me your thoughts, i would really like to know what you all think.

You didn't exactly explain why you want to do this. I see no real reason as to why this needs to be a thing because, as you explained, there is already grief prevention. If you're the one that's giving the interest away, what's in it for you? If there weren't already another way to protect our items, I wouldn't mind using your trust based system but there already is. The free diamond interest rate idea is appealing, but once again I gotta ask what's in it for you.
I can see how it could help newer players, you can help give them a "secure" place for items while they get claim blocks, and also help them obtain some diamonds.
More info would be cool.

I am a no life miner, i love to mine. There isn't anything in it for me. I just have a decent amount of diamonds that if people are willing to be patient then they can earn some Diamonds. I have noticed that some people hate mining and would rather spend their time building and such. So I am offering people like them and option to still make money. I think of it this way, it would be a win win. I get to mine, and people can do other things with their time other than mining. At the end of the day i'd be happy and they would be happy as well. Hopefully that helps. was going to put that in the description above but i guess i spaced and didnt put that. Sorry  |

Hmm. If that's what you like, then I guess that's cool? I totally get how mining isn't exactly appealing to everybody. It's tedious and time consuming.
I definitely wouldn't mind trying it out then, you're a cool, trustworthy dude. Free diamonds for me, and an endless mining objective for you.

The one thing thats stumping me is a fair interest rate. I have been trying to tweak the numbers but it feels that its either way too high or way too low, I'm hoping to have the numbers figured out by tomorrow and hopefully with more and more feedback i can make this bank!!!

I think you should start out with a trial run that's fairly low. If it doesn't work, you can change it accordingly.

You could just have a limit to the number of diamonds that could be put into the account.
Also what would you do if we want to withdraw our money but you are not online? I assume you could have one chest per client and then trust that client with access to his or her own chest (so we can still withdraw even if you are not there)?

I wanted to do something cooler than a normal trust based system, but at this time a trust based chest seems like the most effective possibility. |

Hippo this would be good if you offered loans that you collected interest off of. Also if there were big purchases to be made like buying a house or renting in a city.

also you could compile all the diamond and give proof of diamonds and date book. you wouldnt have to give access 24/7 either as banks have hours. doing this could bring about a hippo based currency which is redeemable for diamonds and then would allow small purchases to be made at 1/4 diamond 1/8 dianond ect.

Hippo, you really should start up this bank. You could open a magnificent main office in the outer ring of the shopping district (or even directly outside the shopping district) and you'd get a lot of traffic.
Also I would change my vote from "maybe" to "yes" if it allowed me to change.
