Robiiins here (sadly without another bingo) on something that has been irking me for a while...
Though it seems obvious to me, many players have to be asked by staff/other players (like myself) to reduce their noise level. This seems especially common for people selling things/ looking for particular items. Some people don't even realize-- or pretend to, idk-- that what they're doing counts as spam/advertisement. I know that there's no good way to necessarily stop this and no matter how good of rules there are someone will always be breaking them. My initial thought on such things was a trade chat/channel so players looking for towns or to sell things and other similar tasks could chat. In said chat maybe there could be a message when people join, reminding users to only advertise twice in a five minute period. This would clear up the general chat and would also specify rules about spamming. I don't think this would necessarily impede on the vanilla-ness of the server given it is more about player to player interaction. I know too that simplex is small (and thus probably has limited resources) and I'm not familiar enough with what would be needed to make that possible. Another maybe easier fix solution would just be clarify in /rules or at spawn that if someone does look for a buyer/seller/whatever to do the 2 in 5 min rule?
Anyways, hope everyone reading this has a good day and any ideas are welcome!
(Note: when I use advertise I just mean for in-game activities and not other servers, in case that isn't clear. Not trying to justify when people break the rules or anything haha)
